To celebrate Digital Cleanup Day, the French Ministry of Culture organized an eco-responsible exhibition to raise staff awareness of IT’s impact with the aim of encouraging the adoption of more sober practices. Today, the IT sector accounts for 2.5% of France’s carbon footprint, a share that could rise to 6.7% by 2040. By setting up four hubs – Awareness, Materialization, Recovery and Repair – this initiative offered a global approach to IT sustainability.
Before the European elections, Numeum, France’s leading union of digital companies, has published its manifesto. It emphasizes the importance of moving from regulation to action by promoting digitalization in businesses, strengthening digital skills, supporting European startups, and fostering strategic autonomy. These proposals aim to make Europe a global leader in digital innovation while ensuring a sustainable ecological and social transition.
On May 27, the National Consultative Ethics Committee announced the creation of a department for Digital Technology. Established by a decree from Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, this initiative makes France the first country to have a dedicated body for digital ethics. The committee, consisting of twenty independent members, will address the social, economic, and environmental impacts of technological advancements, particularly AI, by producing opinions and recommendations. This creation marks a significant step towards a more ethical and responsible digital future.

Arcep and Arcom, in partnership with ADEME, launch the General Framework for Eco-Design of Digital Services. The goal: to minimize the environmental impact of websites, applications, video platforms, and AI tools from their very conception the outset.
Developed with DINUM, Inria, and CNIL, this framework offers 78 criteria and practical guidelines to integrate ecological considerations into digital development. By following these recommendations, digital professionals can initiate a sustainable strategy and publish an eco-design declaration.

This spring has been bustling with significant events in which Verdikt exhibited, bringing together industry leaders and innovators:
